Vapor intrusion assessments are performed in compliance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E 2600-08 standard. Vapor intrusion assessments may be performed in conjunction with or separate from a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA).  

 Potential Vapor Intrusion Conditions (pVICs) are identified through a four tiered methodology which are not required to be performed sequentially.  Tier 1 and Tier 2 outline the process on identifying whether a pVIC exists.  Tier 3 provides steps to evaluate whether a vapor intrusion threat is in fact impacting the indoor air quality and Tier 4 addresses mitigation alternatives.
